Headteacher's Welcome

Bethesda Children’s Centre was officially opened in March 2004 with the aim of rehabilitating the children in a family environment and later re-integrate them back to their homes and to the society at large. Bethesda was a short time rehabilitation centre for 10 Boys. Our target group is street boys in the age of 8-14.  The short term rehabilitation and re-integration was not successful therefore we changed to a long term which a child stays in Bethesda until a child completes primary education  level.  When a child is re-integrated back to their home, either directly from the street or after being rehabilitated at our centre we put them in our Follow-up program for regular visits.

We want to make sure that the children are well taken care of and that they will not go back to the street again. When a boy leaves the centre to move home we admit a new street boy. Currently we have 30  children under rehabilitation at Bethesda and many boys have already been re-integrated  back to their families as they attend secondary school/Vocational training. To be in touch with re-integrated boys once a year we invite them to Bethesda home  for what we call Boys` Camp. The program includes: School, Spiritual teachings, Acrobatics, Choir, Farming and Handicraft among other activities

As Bethesda Children home the chaplaincy department we have a priority to share God's love to the street rescued boys. So the chaplaincy section is committed in administering the spiritual nourishment for the boys and the academy School children.
We as Bethesda are happy that through spiritual nourishment, we have changed many boys, who have come to the knowledge of God and have changed their behaviours.
Our endeavors is to carry on the mission of offering spiritual guidance, so to accomplish goal of sharing the love of God with the less fortunate in the society within Nakuru.
